UPDATE: Effective July 1, 2010 the fingerprint fee for employees (including charter schools) is $90.00.
FINGERPRINTING AND BADGE RENEWAL INFORMATION
The Sarasota County School District is committed to keeping our students and staff members safe. All employees, student teaching interns, vendors, consultants and contractors will need to submit fingerprints and undergo a background check. See below for more information on what to bring with you when you are printed.
Jessica Lunsford Act (Pertaining to Contractors and Vendors)
On May 2, 2005 the Jessica Lunsford Act was signed into legislation. This Act provided several safeguards to protect Florida's children from sexual predators. In addition to toughening the regulation of registered offenders, this Act expanded the background check requirements for school districts to include all contracted workers and consultants. This law enables the school district to better protect the children in its care.
In addition, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement agreed to implement a database to track arrests of school district employees and contractors and notify the school districts when an employee is arrested. This new tracking system will help ensure that the children in our schools remain safe.

In addition to the paperwork listed below - everyone coming for fingerprinting must bring a Driver's License (or other valid government issued photo I.D.) Appointments are required.

Contractors and Vendors who renew their badges after the expiration date will subject the individual to being re-fingerprinted at a charge of $87.43.
Companies with multiple employees whose badges need to be renewed need to contact the office for further instructions and information.

If paying by money order or cashiers check, have the document made out for payment to The School District of Sarasota County.
