Phoenix Academy is now enrolling eighth-grade students. The school features small-classroom settings and close contact with teachers to help reshape the lives of struggling students in grades eight-10. For more information visit the school's website.

As a measure to reduce utility costs, offices of the Sarasota County School District, including central offices at The Landings, will be closed Fridays from the week of June 14 through the week of Aug. 9 and open additional hours Monday-Thursday. Offices at The Landings will be open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday during those weeks. Some schools and departments may observe different schedules and some schools will be closed for extended periods. Please call first before visiting a particular school or site. For links to school websites with contact info, click here. On Monday, Aug. 16, school and district offices will resume their regular Monday-Friday schedule. School starts Monday, Aug. 23 for 2010-11.
